Italian, meaning "fake."
(Although it sounds like it, Fugazi is NOT an italian word, it might be a family name and it might have been used by italian-americans (not sure), but it has no meaning in italian. - A native italian)
also an acronym for the words F**ked Up, Got Ambushed, Zipped In. Reference from Vietnam war, describing an ambush and the loading of soldiers into body bags afterward. (May not be an actual rap reference, just another meaning of the word, this is the meaning referred to by the D.C. Hardcore band of the same name)
Also an Italian gangster term for fake diamonds specifically. Used in the movie Donnie Brasco.
- Actually it was used in a rap song - "Still Ballin'" by 2Pac and Trick Daddy. In Trick's part (verse 2,line 8) he raps "Plus your homeboy won't make it, street game Fugazi", although I'm not sure about the "street game" part, since ohhla.com incorrectly quoted Trick as saying "When he's gone, devolve I become a dangerous man", when it's actually "When there's guns involved I become a dangerous man".
- Eminem already used this word in a song called "Fight music", there it goes:
"I came to save these new generations of babies from parents who failed to raise 'em cause they're lazy to grow to praise me I'm makin 'em go crazy That's how I got this whole nation to embrace me And you fugazi if you think I'ma admit wrong I cripple any hypocritic critic I'm sic'd on"
