I.Blast, was born on July 16, 1985. He was raised and still resides in the Montreal borough of NDG; a neighbourhood renowned for producing some of the finest local talent in the Montreal hip hop scene. While growing up in his community in NDG, he was surrounded by a rich hip hop influence, which subsequently paved a solid path towards his imminent career in music.

At the young age of only 10 years old, he purchased his first album, Wu-Tang Clan’s 36 Chambers. From then on, his hunger for hip hop developed as he began listening to a great deal of mid-nineties east coast hip hop including music from artists Nas, Onyx, and Camron. It is his appreciation and passion for this era which then led him to mould and craft his own unique sound. By the age of 16, he was already writing and recording his own material in a friend’s home studio. By the time he was 20, he began performing for the masses with confidence and poise.

I.Blast’s musical style delves to depths often untouched by other hip hop artists, while his attitude is sharp and self-assured without being arrogant. His signature multi-syllabic, lyrical, and highly poetic flow are the qualities that have helped garner him the respect and stature that he has achieved thus far. Despite a violent past, I.Blast stands by shifting the image of hip hop towards a more positive one. He aims to be a responsible and reliable role model for the youth who admire and look up to him. By keeping the focus of his music away from hostility, he paints a fresh picture and shares a different vision.

To date, I.Blast has released two highly successful solo mixtapes: Blast Off, and Human Gun. His third, Time Traveler, is set to be released in June 2010. Aside from his solo work, he has had the honour of working with many respected artists including Planet Asia, Jay Bezel, 40 Cal and Montreal’s home-grown Magnum 357 and Bad News Brown. He has opened for globally renowned artists including Rick Ross, Bun B, Lloyd Banks, Slaughterhouse, 112, Boot Camp Clik, Beenie Man and The Alcoholiks and has performed in local festivals including Under Pressure and Hip Hop You Don’t Stop.
